BOWERY SOUND ARCHIVE

A 13000 square foot urban intervention designed to house the auditory history of the city. This project explores the architectural potential of abandoned objects and hidden spaces to define a new civic typology. The structure is dictated by a system of shifted floor plates and an irregular structural grid that responds to unique edge conditions. A protective folded elevation facing the park acts as a light regulator to safeguard the collection while creating a distinct sculptural presence within the Bowery.
